by Leah Patterson This is the time of year that the vibration of renewal and rejuvenation moves through everything! We respond with the urge to de-clutter our outer and inner spaces and to refresh ourselves. Answering this call can help you create a wonderful habit of making time to lovingly care for yourself as well as to set the tone for things to come. Spring is a great time to explore what works best for you. But remember, seasonal cleansing and renewal isn’t just about one aspect of yourself. Taking the time to tend to your mind and your spirit (in addition to your body) will make you happier all around! Here are some of my favorite ways to renew and cleanse my mind, body, and spirit. Enjoy these ideas, try them out, and let me know what works for you!
MindIt’s important to have a clear and energize mind, even if it’s just to have the intention to cleanse your body and spirit. Start with de-cluttering your personal to-do list! If, not this would be a great time to reassess the things you are working feverishly towards, along with whether those goals are what you truly want. Ask yourself: If you find that the answer to either of these questions is "no," consider creating a more targeted list. Your mind will be refreshed and refocused by making your dreams come true. BodyI believe that gentle and consistent internal cleansing is the most long lasting, empowering, and powerful way. Incorporating herbal teas into your daily regime is one of the best ways to nourish your system and cleanse it at winter’s end. My favorite tea herb for spring cleaning is dandelion root. Drinking dandelion root tea on a daily basis tones your liver and also provides your body a full array of vitamins and minerals. Three cups of dandelion tea per day can produce significantly positive effects on your energy level and overall well-being. A good rule of thumb is two teaspoons of dried dandelion root steeped in 8 oz of boiling water for 15 minutes or so, Cap, or cover, the mixture while it is steeping. SpiritIn my opinion, this is the most vital area to cleanse and renew, not just in the springtime, but any time of the year. Without such an internal examination, it is difficult to experience the lasting effects of any effort to renew yourself. One simple, yet powerful action to cleanse one’s spirit is by lighting a white candle each night. Such a candle symbolically represents the burning away of negative energies you may have attracted and/or created during the day and serves to remind that you can “wipe the slate clean” at any point. It can be also be a very affirming and healing act. Meditation is another effective way of restoring one’s spirit. Even a five-minute morning meditation can make a huge difference in your life. I’ve found that taking this action fills me with peace and warm anticipation of the day that lies ahead. Each of these renewal methods can be very powerful and help you to make lasting changes in your life. Explore what works for you, and remember that taking the time to love and care for yourself is the most important commitment you can make. Make it happen this Spring! Green Blessings!
